Society has failed me like the underwire in my expensive bra!
I remember sitting in history class reading about the trials and
tribulations of people of color and women of all and thinking to myself Thank
GOD we are not there anymore. But only to realize we were still there in a
sense and only enough progress to fill a few pages in my history books.
Living in the white male world or just a man’s world, I find
myself thinking; who in the hell put them in charge? How did they figure they
were in a place of dominance? I like to imagine that there was a guy with a
mind eraser thingy from men in black. You know; running around, flashing the
great women of the past and rewriting the history and present of woman. But it
appears that it might just be some harsher, cruel, insidious way of power and
control.
Power and control runs
the world! You gain control, you have the POWER.
After viewing this tragic place we are in, women and people of
color have been dominated by universal global abuse. But I will present my
evidence of proof by using she, her and girlie pronouns.
1.
Stripping away her rights
to her body (assertion of male privilege),
2.
Placing her in the home
to raise her children (isolation and using children),
3.
Telling her this is a
man’s place, a man’s job (Emotional abuse),
4.
Unfair wages (Economic
abuse) and
5.
If she only would have
covered up, no one would have raped her (minimizing and blaming).
They strip us of power and then insert the control. The
constraints of this methods has held those consider minorities for centuries.
Invading countries and inserting the power and control wheel of hell.
Laws are designed to protect and create order, right? Just like
the $49.98 bra I bought, that only cause pain and confusion. We think it is
there for our safety and we feel safe and secure knowing that this bra is
taking care of us. And just like the laws of this land they fail us due to some
human flaw or conspiracy of control. The wire breaks, pops, digs into you or
falls out from under you. The laws are set up the same way for women and people
of color. They say they will protect, they say liberty and justice for all. But
we realize it is protection and liberty for just them. We as minorities know we
are not the us they are protecting.
Where are we now? We stand, march, scream and cry, asking to be
included. Burning the underwire of society and going rouge, fighting for
freedom and true justice. Anyone who has ever seen a woman snatch her
underwire out and throw it away; know there is a level of I don’t give a damn
that is unmatched. So don’t discount us, don’t pacify us, coddle us with your
“its better than it used to be”. Hear us because we are stripping the underwire
and demanding our place!
